Kumite Course - Sunday 27 April 2025 - Canons Leisure Centre

Posted by alisonthompson on

A three hour kumite course was held in order to raise the kumite standards for competitors when competing at any championships.
A short history on the origins of kumite training over the years was given followed by drills and practice of kumite technique.
Good numbers attended on one of the hottest days of the year so far despite many clubs being on Easter break - it seemed everyone participating enjoyed it!

Many people have asked for another session. This will be arranged soon. Ask your instructor for more information.

The 46th National Washinkai Championships were held at the Canons Leisure Centre on Sunday 9 March 2025.

It was an exciting day with more entries this year than had been forecast.

With an early start of 0930, the events were constant with all the referees and judges working continuously. Having a high standard from all kata competitors and kumite competitors, everybody stated how enjoyable the day had been.

A well attended Gasshuku despite many senior instructors being unable to attend.

The three hour course went quickly on Saturday and finished with Alex Harrison from Marsh Academy, Kent, successfully taking his Shodan grading.

On Sunday 9th February, the second day of the Gasshuku, as well as kumite training, many senior kata were practiced, culminating in Neil Benton 7th Dan and Chief Referee, leading a referee course.
