On 18 May, the Spring Washinkai Gasshuku was held in Javea, Spain, hosted by Sensei Geovanny Salazar Sanchez, 5th Dan, our Spanish Chief Instructor.

The first session was held on Thursday evening for both junior and senior grades.  This was followed by a senior grades session only.  Many senior graded students had flown over from the UK to attend this Gasshuku.

Friday's evening session was for Dan gradings only and succcessful students were: Martin Connelly, Shodan, Ciara Connelly, Nidan and Eric Henshaw, Yondan.  As usual Ginez Fernandez Oller, 7th Dan, was in attendance on the grading panel to represent the Valencian Karate Federation.

On Saturday morning, two sessions were held in Benitachell for both juniors and seniors.  That afternoon, many of the junior Washinkai students went to Pego for a competition with many other styles.  Washinkai achieved one bronze, one silver and two gold medals at this event.

We had four days of glorious sunshine in Javea.  The Spring Gasshuku in 2024 will be held at approximately the same time and at the same venue.  We look forward to seeing you there!
