So with another year coming to a close, Shihan Thompson held a weekend Gasshuku at Lydd. Outside the trees were turning yellow and leaves falling to the ground. A very picturesque and tranquil scene. Just a few feet away however inside the dojo, the only things falling to were training karate-ka being thrown to the floor and taken down with a multitude of advanced pairs work.
For the first time in several years, Lydd held 2 day course on September 23rd and 24th under the instruction of Shihan Thompson. It saw people travel from London, Redhill and Dover to attend.
It was safe to say the 3 K’s were well and truly covered. Kata ranging from Iponme right up to Ten-Shin-Dai, pairs from the very basic Jodans up to advanced partner work. Everyone trained exceptionally hard but more importantly everyone enjoyed the course.
Saturday night seniors went out for dinner at the Ashford beefeater. It was great to have everyone get together and have a good time. The weekend flew by but ended with Shihan Thompson saying how proud he was of our club and the support given by other local Dojos. Shihan is now looking at making this a regular Gasshuku and a course has already been looked for another 2 day course in March (date to be confirmed). When this is finalised, make sure you get the time off work and travel down for what is sure to be another great weekend of training!
